The Puff Flower Purse Pattern

The Tutorial

This pattern is worked in a continuous round. Use the yarn to create the center of the flowers.
Step 1 : 12 sc in a MC

Insert the hook into the first stitch, pick up the new color with the hook and pull it through the stitches like a slip stitch.

Stage 2 For the first petal, apply 3 ml at a time.
Stage 3 Yarn over and insert the hook into the same single crochet stitch. Yarn over and pull through. Pull to get more yarn – equivalent to the 3 chain stitches at the beginning – (see photo 05). Yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook.
Stage 4 Repeat the previous step 2 more times in the same sc, then 3 times in the next sc.
Stage 5 : Make a yarn over and pass the yarn over through the 7 loops on the hook
Step 6 : Make 3ml then a sl st in the second sc of the CM
Stage 7 : slst in the next sc
Stage 8 Repeat steps 2 to 7 to obtain 6 petals.
Stage 9 After the last single crochet of the 6th petal (made in the first single crochet of the main chain), pass the yarn to the back of the flower and pull it to close the hole. Do the same with the yarn from the main chain.
Tip: Tie the threads together in pairs for added security before cutting off the excess.

Assembling the Wallet

• For 3 different colours, make 12 flowers of each colour and assemble them according to graph 01.
• For 4 different colours, make 9 flowers of each colour and assemble them according to graph 02.

Once the 36 flowers are assembled, fold in half on the wrong side and sew the flowers together on both sides, then turn the work right side out.

Creation of the Lining

To make the wallet more durable, it's advisable to add a lining. The following method is just one among many, but it's the only one I know, and I'm far from being a seamstress!

• Cut a rectangle of 14 cm / 16 cm (seam allowances are included)
• Fold the fabric in half lengthwise (16 cm) and sew the two ends together 1 cm from the edge.
• Sew the zipper onto the remaining edge (14 cm).

I sew by hand using a backstitch for a neat finish. All you have to do is slip the lining between the flowers and sew the edges (including the zipper) to the flowers in the first and last rows!
