This pattern is worked in continuous rounds.
Start with red yarn.

Round 1 : 6 sc in a MC [6]
Round 2 : 6 inc [12]
Round 3 : (sc, inc) x6 [18]
Round 4 : sc in each st [18]
Round 5 : (sc, inc, sc) x6 [24]

Change for white yarn.

Round 6 : BLO, sc in each st [24]
Round 7 : (sc, dec) x6  [16]
Round 8 : 8 dec [8]
Round 9 & 10 (2 round): sc in each st [8]
Round11 : BLO, sc in each st [8]
Round 12 to 14 (3 round) : sc in each st [8]
Round 15 : (sc, inc) x 4 [12]
Round 16 : (sc, inc, sc) x4 [16]

Start stuffing the body and continue to stuff as you go.

Round 17 : (sc, dec, sc) x4 [12]
Round 18 : (sc, dec) x4 [8]
Round 19 : 4 dec [4]

Cut the yarn and fasten off remaining stitches.

With red yarn,
From Round 6 : FLO, sc in each st, end with 1 sc and cut the yarn. [24]

With white yarn,
From Round 11 : 8 dc, end with 1 sc and cut the yarn [8]

To finish, embroider the dots on the hat using white yarn.
